Hey--I was looking for a get-well card for Sooz and was wondering if there are any that express: GetWell/It's St. Patrick's Day cards--but they don't exist! Extremely happy--that's not the word--ecstatic--that Sooz is doing so well, and happy birthday to Rob, and also my buddy Bill Weathersby has his birthday on March 8--good month for good people with birthdays--with best hopes for everyone --

Happy Birthday Uncle Rob!

Yeah, it's Susi's blog, but can still send best wishes out to her only brother Robert on what I recall is his birthday.

Great News!

Pathology is finally back and the results are in... NO SIGN OF ANY MORE CANCER! Only required further treament: check up once a year.

They're going to start disconnecting her from all her tubes tomorrow and take a chest x ray. After monitoring how everything goes for a bit, she'll be given her ticket home, earliest Wed, maybe Thursday.

When not resting, she'll probably be reading voraciously - any good books would be much appreciated.

Looks like everyone's prayers and good wishes came through with flying colors! Thank you, everyone, for your support and caring.

Sat

Dick & I got to see Ma/Sooz sitting up today, and later when we called to check in after we returned to Kent she was getting ready to take a walk down the hall. It's important that she stays up for periods of time to help her lungs drain. But she tires easily, and was ready for a rest after visiting with us briefly. She has a semi private room and her roommate is quite nice, having celebrated her 91st bday there yesterday. The doc says she'll be there a few days, but we didn't have a chance to talk to him directly. Thank you for the stack of cards here at the house, we'll share them with her tomorrow.
Love to all,
Marg
Well, I agree with Laura! Sooz, you are the best, and everyone loves you so much that the whole town WILL descend on you when you get home. Bringing friends, too! And with your large family, you will be mobbed..... We've talked about learning to say "no!", remember? This will be your big test, and I know you can do it. After all, you got through surgery, right? Saying one small word oughta be a piece of cake. Speaking of which, I saw some yummy looking cake at the Villager, and we never did get together after I got back from vacation, so cake at Tony's is on me when you feel like saying "yes". But only after you say "no" first. Love you lots. Come back soon - I can't keep my Kent history facts straight without you! Marge M.

Sorry it's taken me so long to post this; Dick emailed some people and I haven't had a chance to sit at my computer... Ma's surgery went well and she was to be moved into her recovery room at 11 am. I haven't heard anything since so I assume all is well. Thanks for all of your concerns and good wishes. After I see her tomorrow around lunchtime, I will post some more info.
Not sure if I'm working this whole blog correctly, but checking to make sure that Sooz is doing fine. JPR

Yes, I'll be making a quick turnaround this weekend just to see that she's OK, then returning mid March for Spring Break in Kent... Her information packet from her doctor and the hospital said to "discourage guests from visiting as you will need your rest..." Even in my brief stays in hospitals it just never fails that housekeeping or staff will wake up a patient just as they have finally fallen asleep, so please no "hordes" this first week after surgery. Let's make sure she'll be back up and running only after she's ready (if that's possible). Cards and flowers will be much appreciated and we'll keep you posted on her recovery and her condition to receive visitors. Thank you for understanding.

Isn't it always the case...

Alice (least junior niece-in-law) and I have to head to Arizona for a week on business on Saturday. Which means that we'll probly miss Margie, who I understand may be heading east to comfort her mother. Also means that we won't be among the hordes descending on Sooz at the hospital. Small world: the lead member of my firm's board of directors--Dale Comey-- was on the board at St. Francis Hospital til recently. So Sooz, if the oatmeal is cold or the bed short-sheeted, at least we have some friends in high places. And he's a great guy, so I'd actually hit him up for it!

Also: a plea. Anybody have scans of Sooz's pictures? Especially as a kid? Would make a good cover photo for the blog. Email to me at dradulski@gmail.com. Life good.

from second oldest niece-in-law

Dave, you always and continue to rock with astounding ideas. This is one of them.
Suzi, you are The Rock, and you will always continue to be. However, should anything in the near future make you a little more mushy than a rock--say, you can't host an entire family in your house, complete with four star dinners and supreme desserts--please learn to say No and then to say Yes to help that is offered. I can only imagine the entire town of Kent will be at your door asking how best to help. Then your entire extended family will show up. There is a disadvantage to being so well loved! The advantages, however, will overcome, i hope; i also hope you will be able to relax and appreciate all of the love that is showered upon you in the days to come. It is only the tide turning, as all of the love and generosity of spirit that you have shared with others these many years is returned to you in full force. It will only be an inkling of what you have offered, but I hope it will be all that you need. love and kisses to you and Dick. laura

Great Idea!

Awesome idea David. I hope all is well with you and everyone else reading this.
May God bless you all and may our unconditional love and support for one another remain strong as it has always been as we face this obstacle before us. Love, Josh (youngest nephew)

Post away. You have rights. But if you get too nasty, you'll get them taken away! Pictures and notes welcome.
